Banana Crime

Did I tell you guys that I ran a red light as I was leaving the Driver's Licensing Office last week? I was eating a banana and forgot to look where I was going.

Conclusion: Bananas cause negligence.

Gentle Cycle

I talked to my mom today. (Not on her cell phone because that has inadvertently been through the washing machine.)

Perfect!

I learned a new word today.

Lethologica: the state of not being able to remember the word you want to use.

Quality Joke Here

My new boss was talking to me about her home state of Oregon. Apparently in Oregon you can't pump your own gas.

"You just pull up and they fill your tank and wash your windows," she told me.

"Oh," I said, "so it's like a husband."

Hooray!

Q: Who loves the Olympics?

A: ME ME ME ME ME ME ME!

Today I said to my roommates, "Bay-zjing! Bay-zjing! I'm so excited I could piddle!"

Lesson Learned

It's dangerous to leave your camera unattended.
Especially with these two jokers around.

P.S. Did I ever mention how much I love my sister and my mom? They make what I do look almost normal.

Official Utahn Here

After living in Utah for almost 4 years, I've finally become an official Utah resident. I went down to the Utah Drivers' License Division on Friday, declared residency, got a Utah license, and even registered to vote in Utah. (No more voting in Texas elections for me.)

By the way, I totally look drunk in my license picture. Awesome.

To all the girls I know:

Please stop talking to me about Twilight. I don't want to see the preview for the movie again and I'm not going to stand in line at midnight with you to buy the new book and I'm certainly not going to obsess with you about why you can't find an Edward in real life. It's not that I don't care, it's just that I really, really don't care.

Cream of Cloud

I was over at my sister's house to watch the kids a few nights ago. We were watching the clouds and I asked the boys, "What do you think clouds are made of?"
Jacob said, "I think probably Cream of Wheat."
I laughed and then Zachary looked at me with a furrowed brow.
"What do you think, Zach?" I asked.
"I think they are . . . not Cream of Wheat."

One good thing about living in Utah . . .

You get an extra holiday every year. While most Americans will be working this July 24th, the state of Utah and I will be livin' it up, Pioneer Day-style.
Except I will be smiling. (Because I don't have to do any "reenactments.")

Quote of the Week

My roommate Karen and I were talking about Ted Bundy, naturally, and other serial killers today. During our conversation, I made a comment that really showed deep thought and careful reflection.

I said, "Well, I don't like murderers. I think they just need to stop killing people."

Yeah, I think Karen is still giggling about that one.

Let's put a smile on that face!

I saw the new Batman movie this weekend. It was purty cool.

Some good: several top-notch performances, pretty good special effects, decent script
Some not good: too long (they could have edited 30-45 minutes out, no prob), did not like Maggie Gyllenhaal in this role (surprising because I really like her), very very dark (duh, it's Batman) like nightmare dark

Overall, I really liked it. And that's not just because they were a lotta hunka-hunka guys in it. In fact, let's review:

There was Christian Bale. Mega-hunk, yes? I've had a crush on this guy since I saw him play Laurie in Little Women when I was twelve. Swoon.

And then, of course, Aaron Eckhart, who is my very favorite living American actor. Sigh.

And Anthony Michael Hall. That's right, folks. The nerdy kid from Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club has evolved into a The Dead Zone hottie.

Let's not forget Heath Ledger. He, while maybe not so good-looking in this movie, was still major eye candy.

OOTL*

So, I've realized I'm pretty unhip to web-lingo (not sure if it's pronounced as two words: "web lingo" or as one: "we-blingo," which I think sounds cooler anyway). I had to Google "IMHO" today because someone typed it to me and I had no idea what it meant.

*out of the loop (so you don't have to Google it)

Fortunately, Unfortunately

Have you ever played the game "Fortunately, Unfortunately"? Here's my afternoon in that style:

I was sitting at my desk.
Unfortunately, I was very hungry.
Fortunately, I had a fiber bar in my desk.
Unfortunately, fiber bars are gross.
Fortunately, I was too hungry to care.
Unfortunately, I dropped a chocolate chip.
Fortunately, it was just a little one.
Unfortunately, it fell on my chair.
Unfortunately, I didn't see it.
Unfortunately, I sat on it.
Unfortunately, chocolate melts when exposed to body heat.
Unfortunately, I got a large chocolaty smear on my chair.
Unfortunately, it was also all over my bum.

Suck.

Babe Magnet

I work at the University of Utah and I had to run up to campus today for a quick errand. When I was up there, I was reminded one of the reasons why I love college boys: they wear so much cologne. I'm just strolling along and one of those young bucks walks by and--BOOM--what is that wonderful aroma? I don't know if it's just me, but when I smell overkill Hugo Boss or Acqua Di Gio, I feel all giddy and flirty like I'm 17-years-old.

This is actually really embarrassing. I can't believe I'm telling you all this.

I done been tagged.

I tag: anyone who hasn't yet done this (I always seem to be the last one on these tag-rotations).

The Why Factor

People have been asking me why I'm looking for a new car since I really love my Rodeo. I've had so much fun in that little baby. But it's become a bit of a financial burden to cruise around town in an SUV, especially since I have an hour commute each day. I'm kinda jumping into the conversation a bit late, but what the heck is up with gas prices?

I Heart Versas

I'm in the market for a new car. I really, really like the Nissan Versa, but I'm not setting my heart on anything until I do a bit more research. Isn't it cute, though?

Maryland Trip

I spent the past 5 days in Maryland with my family. It was the first time all the kids were together in about 3 years. It was so fun to spend time together! We had a wonderful 4th of July. We went fishing in the morning and spent most of the afternoon playing water-kickball. We had a yummy barbecue for dinner and then set off fireworks and played games into the wee hours of the morning. Every time I visit my family I come back to my "real life" very reluctantly. Sometimes I'm so tempted to just pick up and move out there.

I have pictures of the trip which I will post soon. Well, as soon as I find the cord that connects my camera to the computer. Please, please tell me I didn't leave it in Maryland.
