I'd like to introduce you all to my newest nephew, Michael. He is 4 months old and pretty much the most adorable kid ever.

Jake's and Zach's Birthdays
We've had quite a few parties around here lately. Jacob turned 4 and Zachary turned 2!!! James came up for the day and we all got cake-faced.
I must say I got them the coolest gift. What a great aunt!
Here are the boys putting it together. Zach was very protective of those markers. . .
Here they are trying it out. Looks like fun! I think they used half of the roll of paper within the first hour and a half. Look at those artists!
They loved blowing out the candles! Eric had to relight them about 4 times.
Then came the really fun part--EATING THAT CAKE!
YUM-O!

Another one bites the dust.
Dear friends, it is a sorrowful time of mourning here in Utah.
Yes, sadly, my fish Dorothy is dead. Finally. The resurrecting fish will no longer "play dead" and cause unrest and distress in our home. Last night he was looking pretty forlorn but, reportedly, was merrily swimming around his bowl this morning. Alas, at 5:30pm tonight he was pronounced "a floater" by Alisca Warner, CPhT.
A short ceremony occured shortly afterward consisting of me scooping him out of his bowl with an Asian soup spoon and Alisca yelling "I don't want to see! Don't bring it over here! I'm not looking!" Dorothy, my companion of two plus years, and I said our good-byes over the rush of the swirling waters taking him to his final home.
El Nino, on the other hand, is pretty excited about the passing of his brother because that means that he will be upgraded from the glass vase to the oh-so-roomy bowl. In fact, rumors abound that El Nino had a hand in Dorothy's death, for he has long been jealous of Dorothy's posh accomodations. Investigations will proceed tommorrow.

Excellence
We have been having issues with the network this week at work which means a) I can’t access any of my files or any of the company’s files and b) I have to deal with the idiot IT guy. He really is a dummy. I’ve actually caught him Googling “How do I fix . . . ?“ Hey, I can do that if that’s all it takes to be the main IT guy around here. Although I will have to work on my ability to make other people feel uncomfortable because he seems to have the gold medal in that department.
Anyway, my point is that I’ve had a lot of work to do and no way to do it so I’ve had to come up with another way to spend my time. I would have loved to just sit at my computer and look up the latest news on Heath Ledger, but that might not be 100% okay with the bosses. So, I’ve been doing the next most exciting thing: online training for Microsoft Office software!!! Don’t be jealous.
Today I learned all about Excel. I use Excel every single day at work. It’s probably the program I use most, so you would think that I would have a pretty good grasp of the whole thing. Well, there are all these cool things that you can do that I had no idea about. Also, I found out that some things that I do could be done a whole lot quicker with these new time-saving tricks I’ve picked up. I am getting really good Excel. I can’t think of the word for when you are superior in some aspect or when you do exceptionally well in a particular area, but that word would apply to me right now. (Amy, that joke was for you.)
Tomorrow, I’m going to tackle Publisher. I know. Get excited.

New Phone!
My dear old trusty phone has decided to give up the ghost, or at least spew its entrails out the bottom. I was a little sad until I realized that meant I get a new phone! Hooray! I got a great discount on the phone because I renewed my contract and I'm a University of Utah employee so this $129 phone cost me exactly $9. I had to drive out to West Valley to pick it up tonight. (If you're not from Utah, just know this: West Valley is not an ideal place for a picnic.) I've been playing around with it all evening. I think my roommates are getting a little annoyed because every 3 minutes they hear, "Do you like this ringtone? Oh, hang on . . . how did I do that? Waitwaitwait. Ok-this ringtone?"
Anyway, applaud my foresight because when my old phone started falling apart, I quickly copied down all the numbers stored in it so I wouldn't lose any numbers if I couldn't transfer them. I know I wrote them down on a legal pad and put it . . . somewhere. Well, if you don't ever hear from me again, you'll know I didn't find it.
(Red is new, blue is old.)
Do I seem excessively excited about this? Cause I am.
